Arabian Horses - Care
Arabian horses should be well cared for to gladden their owners and achieve good results in races, shows, and other activities. Thus, breeders and owners should strive to educate themselves on the point of care for the breed. Occasional injuries and illnesses will occur throughout the life of the horse. Yet, some diseases can have a dramatic impact on its health. This is where time counts. Seasonable aid will help to cope with the disease sooner and ease the condition of the horse before a veterinarian arrives. Besides, knowing some signs of common health disorders will allow the owner to seek help in proper time.
It is good to regularly check your horse' hearth rate and temperature. The temperature of a healthy horse is about 100 degrees Fahrenheit, whereas the hearth rate is from 38 to 42 beats per minute. Note that the higher hearth rate the horse has, the more severe its health condition is. The color of the gums is also a good indicator of health condition. The gums of a healthy horse should be pink or pale pink.
To properly care for Arabian horses, one should follow the recommendations concerning living conditions, diet, and general care. Thus, Arabian horses should not be exposed to harsh weather conditions. Washing regularly will keep its coat clean. Daily exercise and training will help it to develop an athletic body build. Grass, hay and grain should be the basic ratio constituents of Arabian horses. Be careful to proportionately feed your horse. Too much grain in the diet will result in laminitis and colic. There are data that proved that the breed is predisposed to gastrointestinal disorders. Thus, it is a good idea to learn more about this disease and its occurrence in Arabian horses.
